Lifestyle: True Yoga Bikram

H and I like doing a lot of activities together apart from traveling. Lately, we've been doing Bikram Yoga to help H get his knee back in shape. He's had some knee surgery done earlier this year. We tried the classes at True Yoga in Scotts Road. H has done Bikram in Berlin and I have tried it a few years back in Manila. Getting back to it was quite tough.

For those of you who haven't heard or tried Bikram Yoga, let us share with you a bit of information about it. Bikram yoga is a sequence of 26 Asanas (yoga postures) and 2 breathing exercises done for 90 minutes in a heated room up to 40 degrees (Celsius).  Yes, a heated room. As if trying to hold a pose is not hard enough, you have to endure the heat.

Some health benefits/claims of Bikram are weight loss, release of body toxins through sweat, improvement of flexibility due to more relaxed muscled with the help of heat, among other things. Personally, we do it because H claims his knee feels better after and I feel very lightweight and at ease after a session.

You for sure get some mixed feelings about Bikram. Some can't even last the whole 90 minutes, some feel a bit dizzy, some enjoy it the first time. We'd like to hear from you. Let us know about your experience!
