Travel: Phuket, Thailand

The trip started with H in Finland for his knee surgery and then we decided to meet up in Phuket for some RnR before we head back to reality (Singapore). H has been to Phuket so many times, whilst I was the Phuket virgin.

We decided to book 4 days at Renaissance Phuket via Booking.com. Oh, we would go back there in a heartbeat. Renaissance Phuket Resort and Spa is probably one of the nicest resorts I've ever been to. Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles and a refreshing welcome drink (which by the way, tasted like a Mojito mocktail. Yummy!).

We were lead to a very clean and modern room. The bathroom was divine, with a huge bathtub and separate shower. The beds and pillows were beyond awesome that H and I fell in deep sleep every night. The hotel had an amazing breakfast buffet which we always looked forward to. We love breakfast buffets, and Renaissance Phuket's didn't disappoint. The selection ranged from freshly cooked omelettes, crunchy bacon, fresh fruits, yogurt, smoothies, brewed coffees and lattes, bread and pastries, and different cuisines all-over the world. We were in brekkie heaven!

We spent most days at the resort just lounging, getting massages, swimming in the hotel pool, eating and drinking. But H told me we HAD to get the best facials at Jungceylon Mall. It was a 30-minute drive from the resort to Patong, where Jungceylon Mall was located. Transportation can be conveniently arranged at the hotel reception with schedules for pickup and drop-off.  We headed straight to Pimnara Spa. You will see a lot of Pimnara Spas located inside Jungceylon Mall, but I highly suggest you take the one on the 2nd floor near the Port Arena (click here for Map). It's more private, as the other ones look like you're in a fish in an aquarium for passers by to gawk at. I opted for the Female Spa Treatment (899 THB) using Guinot products and H got the Male Spa Treatment (899 THB). Pretty cheap, but the results are awesome. My face felt soft and supple, I couldn't stop touching it. It is a must-try when you're in the area. You also get tourist privileges (aka discounts) if you get the basic facial treatment!

We also went to check out Bangla Road. It turns into a whole new level of crazy at night. Stripper poles near the street, exotic animals being shoved to you for photo ops (they charge you for a photo taken), street performers, Lady Boy Shows, etc. Twas an experience!

We were very happy with our trip. The hotel was nice, the food was good, and service was great, and best of all it wasn't very expensive. Fair price for excellent service. Who knows, we might come back there for another RnR in the future.
